Regional Overview

Did You Know?

Founded nearly 100 years ago and owned cooperatively by area cotton ginners since 1977, Planters Cotton Oil Mill at Pine Bluff is the only remaining cottonseed oil mill in Arkansas and the 2nd largest in the U.S.

Telecommunications

Today companies are building regional and national customer care centers to better satisfy their customers' needs for information and service. You may not first think of Central Arkansas as a hub for technology and telecommunications, but with major national companies such as Alltel, SBC Communications, and Acxiom based here, perhaps you should.

The Metro Little Rock region has a robust and diverse economy, highly educated workforce, one of America's lowest per capita tax structures, and many fiber-optic ready commercial sites making it ideal for technology and telecommunications intensive companies to locate here.

In the past year alone, we have seen Pinnacle Business Solutions, a division of Arkansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield; FTD.com, and Cardinal Health all open major national or regional call centers in the Metro Little Rock Region. They know that this is the place for technology businesses that rely on having reliable, high quality telecommunications infrastructures to support mission critical operations.
